Realizing I’ve been in Colombia for 17 days and haven’t posted a blog about what’s been happening here. Believe it or not, this month is probably one of my favorites so far, things have just been busy. So here’s a little recap.
My first week was spent in Medellin for our debrief. This debrief was a place where we started processing all the ins and outs of the past 9 months. It was difficult at times, I had to go back to the days or weeks when I was at my low points. But it mostly showed me how far I’ve come. All the lessons and learned and gosh all the incredible friends I’ve made.
We were also here during the BIG Colombia vs Chile soccer game, unfortunately, they lost, but it was fun to be in the atmosphere
We had the opportunity to spend times with our previous teams and it was a joy to be in the presence of the women who I started the race with because the first months were some of the most difficult.
As a squad, we did something for the first time on the race. We spent the next week in Medellin as well, doing something called Ask the Lord. For this ministry, each day we wake up and simply ask the Lord what he wants us to do and where. Gosh, there are so many beautiful testimonies from this. Everything from healings, to talking with the people on the streets, to creating a friendship with local café employees, to raising thousands of dollars for the Venezuelan refugee crisis. There isn’t anything this squad isn’t willing to do for the Lord and I love serving with them.
For a week now, my team has been in Filandia, Colombia. Might I add, that it’s the coffee capital of the country and i’ve been to 7 different cafes so far. I can’t express how much I love this town and how joyful I am walking the streets. Every building is painted with beautiful colors and the people here are incredible.
Most of our days are spend helping at an afterschool program that our organization, Fundacion Pioneros, puts on. A few days a week, we also have the opportunity to teach English at some of the farm schools nearby. GOSH. I love every second of this. We don’t have a translator and our teacher doesn’t speak English, so it’s been a lot of fun practicing all the Spanish I’ve learned over the years.
Our lunch and dinners are prepared by a local restaurant each day, I’ve already come to love the staff and the best Colombian food there is.
We have two more weeks left in Filandia before we begin our MONTH ELEVEN. Some things you can be praying for my team’s health, guidance into the plans God has for my future, and provision with a little project I’ve been working on. (stay tuned for information on this).
There are 47 days left of the race. 47 more days of us doing God’s work internationally. AND 47 DAYS UNTIL I AM HOME.
I LOVE YALL ALOT!!
B
