Whenever you pass a cop on the highway, what is your first instinct? To look down and see your speed?

Because same.

And then you’re like OH SHOOT, IM SPEEDING. And ya say a little prayer that they don’t pull out behind you.

Sometimes you speed on purpose and you gotta get somewhere, so you push the gas pedal down a little further, but then there are other times when you don’t notice and then you just catch yourself driving faster than you thought.

How often does this happen in other aspects of life?

You have places to be and you’re pushing the pedal to the metal. You want to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible. While speeding you may have missed the cute dog in the car beside you, or you may have been ‘listening to your friend in the passenger seat, but not have been fully engaged in the conversation. You missed the exit to refuel the car. You’re so focused on the finish line that you forget to pay attention to the trip there.

But what if this is you in a difficult season? You’re frustrated with what is happening around you and you just want it all to be over with. You’re caught up with where you’re going that you forget to look around you and enjoy your surroundings, the people, the views. You’re so focused on where you want to be that you don’t engage with the present time. Yes, you may spend time with others and be social, but are you genuine with the time? You’re so ready to be done with this season, that you forget to find time for yourself. You wait for the last minute, right before breaking point, to breathe and refuel yourself.

Just like passing that police officer, sometimes God is telling you to slow down.

Take time to stop and enjoy the scenery, be genuine with your time and engage fully in the conversations, and gosh dang give yourself the time you need to recover.

We were not made to be constantly moving. We need time to think to ourselves, to allow us to understand this season whether it is good or bad.

Don’t have someone else be the one to pull you over to make you realize you need to slow down.

Be the one to push the breaks and slow yourself down.

Spending the next week with my amazing Camp Jubilee family, pressing the brakes on life, and slowing down to enjoy God’s love through these kids and counselors. If you could pray for this week of camp and for God to be present with us.

I can’t thank yall enough for the support I’ve received thus far. I continue to see God’s amazing wonders through all of you, and I can’t express how thankful I am for all those who have already partnered with me.
