All this rain makes me think back to one of my absolute favorite worships songs. I don’t know if you would even consider it a song. 9 simple words. These 9 words, however, make a crowd feel like one. These 9 words make me feel like God is right beside me speaking into my ear. Gosh, these words hold some of the greatest moments.
“The healing rain is falling down; I’m not afraid.”
Let’s break it into two parts.
The healing rain is falling down.
Guys, rain is so beautiful. It falls and it flows. (my car is LOVING the rain, no more salt marks.) But seriously, rain clears away the unwanted. Rain has the ability to wash away what isn’t needed. When it rains all I want to do is curl up in a blanket and be lazy.
The beautiful thing about rain to is that there’s always something beyond. The clouds will part and things will clear. Everything is renewed.
Think about it. When it rains; what is God asking you to cleanse? Is it your thoughts? Your actions? Your friendships? Who knows maybe it’s your eating habits. Think about what areas in your life deserve the attention of renewal. God is healing those areas that need attention. God is allowing you to take a step back from the chaos and relax. The healing rain is falling down and there is healing to come.
I’m not afraid.
Okay so sometimes there is an absurd amount of rain and there is flooding. Are you scared of the approaching waters? Do you dive in? Or do you grab a blow up alligator floaty and ride the waves?
When there is a difficult time in your life how do you respond? Do you get fearful and anxious or do you take the difficulties head on and more forward? There is nothing wrong with a little bit of fear, but quiet that fear with Trust in God. Don’t be afraid of what may come. Because the flood waters always subside and the difficult times are eventually replaced with better.
Give God the ability to clear away the areas of hurt and pain. Give God the ability to wash away impurities. Do not be afraid of the change. Embrace it.
Go grab that alligator floaty and jump in the waters, there’s something waiting for you on the other side.
