The biggest question is always why? Why do bad things happen to good people? Why do things happen in the order they do? Why. Why. Why.

My sister’s boyfriend and Addison’s father was recently diagnosed with Stage 4B ‘B’ Cell Lymphoma. I have watched the VanPutten family come together once already as their youngest son, Shawn defeated Lymphoma in this past year. I have watched as they’ve gone through weeks of hospital stay awaiting answers and months upon months of fighting this awful disease.

WHY

Why this family?

I watch again as this family has to come together for more hospital stays, more time waiting, and more months that require more mental and physical strength than one should ever have to go through. I have watched as their parents have to be strong while their children are in pain.

I watch as this new family of Josh, Anna, and Addison have to go through something at this young age when no one should ever have to. I watched as I facetimed Josh and Anna with Addison at my side from their hospital room. The time having to be away from their child is heartbreaking. The pain that they’re going through is too hard to fathom. This pathway is going to bring forth many challenges and many tears. I have no doubt in my heart that Josh is strong. That Josh will conquer every battle thrown at him.

Josh has become an amazing boyfriend to my sister and an even more amazing father to my niece. They’re surrounded by such a loving family and friends that will be there for every step of the way.

I pray for them. I pray that they find the strength. I pray that they find the understanding of the diagnosis. I pray for healing. I pray that God is with them every step of the way.

Our faith and trust in God may not always bring the answers we want. But it’s trusting that God knows the answers and will give them to us in due time. That He will strengthen us when we don’t think we’re able to. That He will fill every ounce of doubt will patience and understanding. Taking each day at a time, once step at a time.

Addison also wanted to make an addition to the blog.
