speechless. blessed. joyful tears.

For months, Bryce and I have been reaching out to small business and local companies to get corporate sponsorships, which has definitely had its moments of success! Though we also have faced a lot of adversity. A lot of: “We don’t give any donations,” “We don’t donate toward religious affiliations,” gestures to the door, quick remarks and kind “go-away”s from people who don’t want to participate. It’s tough sometimes to keep your head up when you feel like you’ve been pushed to the ground. For every one success [which we still claim SO MUCH JOY from them!!!], there are several unsuccessful attempts, to be completely honest.
As humans, by my standards of fundraising, we fail. Our success rate isn’t high. We go to people with big pockets who seem like they can answer this fundraising gap and then get turned away – and to be honest, they don’t owe us ANYTHING. No one does. We keep putting up these unrealistic expectations on WHO will donate, because somehow we think our logic is better than the Man who places the stars in the sky. The Man who breathes life into our bones, the passion in our hearts.
Hasn’t God always called the most unlikely people? David the shepherd boy? Zacchaeus the tax collector? The woman at the well? Even Peter himself! The list goes on. Well, God is still making the last, first. He is still calling those we hadn’t considered, to be the most giving of all.
Today we received a donation of $2,000.
“Wait… surely they meant to write $200. Oh my gosh, what if they accidentally charged $2,000?”
She’s a mother of two young children, a wife, and she is employed. She isn’t made of money and she never claims to be. She bought a couple shirts from us a few months ago and we were blown away by her giving heart. But today, she gave $2,000.
We couldn’t stop crying. We called her to thank her, and she simply said. “I can’t go, you guys are going for me. You guys are going to be the hands and feet of Jesus.”
God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!
-Ephesians 3:20 (The Message)
We never would’ve imagined this. We never even requested this.
“Wow, God, this is way better than our wildest dreams.”
God is good. God is faithful. God NEVER breaks His promises.
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. This trip would be absolutely impossible without you all who have been prompted to give. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
