A couple weeks ago our WR team discussed the possibility of being fully funded, not only by our trip (January 2017), but being fully funded by training camp (mid October 2016). Woah.
“Guys, don’t you think that’s a little gutsy, maybe we’re being too naive here. Real talk – Bryce and I have $20,000 left to raise, I don’t think that’s possible in four weeks, even with Jesus on our side. TBH.” –Kimmy, to herself, 100 times.
With nothing left to lose, we decided that we would give it a shot. A girl on our trip mentioned that little prayer yields little results, and big prayer yields big results. So we started to pray BIG. We began praying multiple times a day that God would multiply the giving toward our trip, we begged for the faith to believe that being fully funded was even viable.
Well… here’s why I think God may have been laughing out loud at me.
My prayers sounded something like this,
“God, please multiply these donations, I am asking you to do immeasurably more than I can dream up, this can’t be done without you,” but then I would finish it with an asterisk, “but, if we’re asking for too much, and let’s be honest, 20K IS a lot, I’m okay if we at least get mostly funded, or…. kind of funded, I’ll be happy with that too.”
I found myself putting safeties at the end of my requests, just so the fall wouldn’t hurt so badly later. In retrospect, I would’ve dropped that altogether, because I can only imagine God patting my head and sarcastically laughing at me saying, “Gee, that’ll sure be hard… but I’ll try my best, it’s not like I hung the stars and put breath in your lungs every waking second of your life or anything.”
God is simply a God of amazing.
At my church, we sing worship music written in-house, and there is a song I learned on day one there that has stuck with me, but this week it became more relevant than ever. Part of the lyrics read….
“…For too long we have settled for so much less, but you call us to stand next to you and expect the amazing…”
He has CALLED US to EXPECT the amazing, and here I am belittling Him to think that there are some things that will fall short of amazing. He wants us to dream big, ask big and expect the big.
Well I am here to tell you that God is proving my disbelief…
On an average month of funding, we usually receive about $1500 in donations, well just in our first week of praying big, we have raised almost $4000….. IN ONE WEEK. We just made over TEN times what we normally make in a week. Try to tell me that our prayers aren’t being answered??
If we continue to raise money at this pace, we WILL be fully funded by October 17 (training camp). We are claiming that in our lives, and we would love if you joined us in prayer with the same request!
Yesterday, we had a cookout as a fundraiser, and not only did we get to spend time with our favorite people and eat a lot of delicious food, we raised a LOT of money!! We feel so blessed by our community! We received $1,137 in donations at our cookout!!?!?
We now have $17,077 which means we are over 50% funded for our trip!!!
God delights in giving us way more than we asked for. He is not passive. He is not ignorant. He is not lazy. He is fighting for us, providing for us and overwhelming us with support. He is simply doing nothing short of amazing!!
Please join us as we pray BIG. We have 3.5 weeks until training camp, and we believe that we will be fully funded by then!!
