Wednesday at Bible study Phillip our worship leader was teaching in John 15 about how Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. John 15:1-2,”I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes that it may more bear fruit.” There are things in our lives that we have to completely cut out because they bear no fruit and other things that need a fresh start so they can bear more fruit. The past couple of weeks the Lord has been laying on my heart that there are things in my life that are earthly and filthy that are holding me back from growing in him and to see you the next step he has for my life. It’s so crazy how we as humans think we know what’s best for our lives and we go about our daily lives walking around as if we know what we are doing, but then God comes in and gracefully knocks us on our face and shows us that without him we are nothing and know nothing. John 15:4,”Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” And man has he been teaching me that.
I’ve been reading tonight in Colossians 3:1-17 about putting on a new self and how in order to do that we must let go of thing of this world and set your mind on things above. Colossians 3:1-2 says,” If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on things that are on earth.” I’m learning that if I want to grow in him and look like him I have to strip all these idols and earthly things that blind me from seeing him. I just want to live my life most pleasing to him follow the path he has for me and for and for people to mistake me to be Christ’s twin brother. Every day I want to glorify him and every day I let him down but through his grace he makes me anew.

So what things in your life do you need to get rid of? What needs to be pruned so that it may bear more fruit?

Some prayers I have are that I will consciously live my life to glorify God and that my words, actions, and thoughts are most pleasing to Him to be more like Christ. I need to find the things in my life that I need to get rid of so that I may continue to grow in The Lord.
I would most definitely love to get feedback and any prayer request let me know so that I may pray for you.
Thanks for reading,
Bryce
