Meet Sreyna. We met at Freedom Church where she has attended four years. Sunday service, Monday prayer time, Tuesday small group. She is well connected and involved. She is a Jesus-lover and full of the Spirit. Her actions are a testimony of who Jesus is. I was initially drawn to her because of her hospitality and kindness. She pulled up a chair and wanted to talk. So, we did.

Sreyna is 19 and rents a room in Siem Reap with her siblings. She has better schooling opportunities in the city. Her mother lives in a Cambodian village. She visits one time a year.

What are your dreams for the future?

“I plan to be a farmer and teach people in the villages about agriculture. My dream is to be able to employ those with no other opportunities for work.”

What is your favorite bible verse?

“I love the book of Job. All of the trials, hard times and fear that he went through, and still God was faithful through it all!”

There are a lot of missionaries in Cambodia. If you were a missionary somewhere else, what would your message be?

“To be humble and to love.”

Sreyna allowed me to be a part of her story, to understand her life. I’m grateful for her vulnerability and honesty in answering my questions. Her character and the way she conducted herself were much more telling of who she is than any response could ever be.

Romans 12:9-13 let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.

This passage is an account of the life that Sreyna is obviously striving to live. It is conveniently titled “Marks of the True Christian”. Keep striving after the Lord, sister. You are His beloved.
