A story about God being true to his name (Jehovah-jireh, “The Lord will provide”)
Let’s talk gifts…
I have been praying that God might bless me with a guitar where I would be able to help lead worship with. My heart’s desire was that it would have a pickup and be full size so as to have a large resounding sound. Well God knew my heart and guess what?! He’s a God of VERY GOOD GIFTS!
Here’s the background
When we arrived here at our ministry they had just received a guitar that would be for the churches that our pastor here has been planting/running. The guitar was brand new and still had the plastic on the pick guard, pickup/auto-tuner, and the tuning pegs. It was beautiful and blonde. The pastor said that only myself as well as one other person here would be allowed to play it because of how delicate it was. I was truly honored and blown away that God would allow me to at least play this type of guitar for a whole month. Little did I know that God’s work had not been finished.
I had mentioned to the pastor my interest in buying one very similar to this exact model and he told me that he knew a guy that might be able to swing a deal. God had other plans though. I sat down with the pastor today and he told me that he’d been praying and felt the desire that part of this ministry would be with me for the rest of this race. Therefore he said, “I want to give you the guitar and the case for the rest of your trip. I know you’ll be blessed but you’ll also use it to bless others as well.” I broke down and wept. I was overwhelmed with thankfulness towards Pastor and God.
I told Pastor that I had been pouring my heart out this month asking God that He’d really show me how big He was in His provision. Therefore, I started praying “big prayers.” Pastor really poured into me that moment with some wisdom directly from God. He said to me, “I don’t really know what you mean by the term ‘big prayers.’ God already knows your heart’s desires and is going to provide no matter what. God already knows your needs even before you need them and He will meet them.” He was right. Even in that very moment I thought in my mind, “God you’re even meeting everything that I need this very second.” What a blessing!
I’m not going to stop praying for things, but I am going to start trusting more in Him for meeting all my needs instead of myself and others. That means that whatever comes or doesn’t come I will trust that I have an abundance with simply Jesus Christ and Him alone. He’s enough.
