A story about God being true to his name (Jehovah-jireh, “The Lord will provide”)

Let’s talk money…

Normally on the race our finances would be hammered out with our contact as we as a team saw fit.  My finance person and I would normally sit down and have a conversation with our contact about how much they were going to charge us for room and board.  Well sometimes God leads and directs others in a network of faith to bless others.  The ministry that we are staying with has been extremely blessed by many people and because of that we are not being charged for room and board this month.  Praise the Lord!  What a special gift that was!  But wait…it get’s better.

We were on our way back from teaching school one day with our contact and he starts to tell us a story.  A few of the kids needed to go the hospital to see a pediatrician.  So he went to one only to find out that ALL three of the pediatricians just so happened to take the same week off for vacation.  So he drove to another hospital where he wanted to see another pediatrician that was had good credentials as well and she also was on leave.  Finally after being directed to the 5th pediatrician he was able to be seen.  After striking up conversation about what he does, running  home with Refugees, the hospital only charged him for seeing all three of the kids around $5 USD (normally the bill would have easily been over $200).  Then after that the lady that saw them she wanted to donate to the ministry.  She gave our contact a check right then and there in the hospital for the EXACT AMOUNT of money that we would have been charged for room and board.

All of us sat in the car completely blown away by the goodness of God.  He truly does provide for His children.  Sometimes we pray to God thinking he’s no bigger than a mere man.  Yes that is true, but He’s so much bigger than that.  He created the universe and desires to know us.  The bible says in Matthew 6:25-26, “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for you body, as what you will put on.  Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not worth much more than they?”  Then Jesus finishes this message in vs. 33-34 saying, “but seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  So do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will care for itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own.”  There is a reason that God is called Jehovah-jireh in the Bible because he really does provide.
