I had the privilege of experiencing true Guatemalan hospitality this past weekend.  Our itinerary was to go to a city about an hour away from Puerto Barrios and to be adopted by a family inside a the church we’d be serving there.  There were 4 families that chose to adopt as many people as they could from each team.  I was adopted along with my teammate Michael and our local ministry partner Kevin.  Three boys in one house that we have never been to sounded like quite the adventure so I was excited to soak it up.  Welcome to World Race “vagabond” style!
We were blessed to have awesome food and the best coffee in the world!  Side Note:  For those of you who don’t know, I am NOT a coffee drinker at all.  That has simply changed (at least for Guatemala).  I drank about 4 cups straight black.  This stuff was amazing!
My team was blessed with an opportunity to lead a church service which lead to an amazing time for us to really minister to the people there through prayer at the end which included a lot of tears and God’s powerful presence.  Mind you, this is the same church that I was bending the rebar for in the video below.  The church had no roof and the walls were only partially constructed which lead to worship that went straight to the heavens and out of the walls.  I’m convinced that our time there was not just experienced by those in the “walls” of the church but the entire neighborhood.  Praise God for He is good and always working out His perfect plan!
