There is a huge river of love that the Lord pours out onto his children. I have recently been enjoying this said river of love. I would like to concur with the great movie, O Brother Where Art Thou, in using their words and I quote, “Come on in boys, the water is fine”.
Everyone wants so desperately to feel loved. The Lord gives love that is unable to be fully understood. It’s unexplainable. I cannot explain the love that God gives, but what I will say is that (I believe) the love of God is the greatest power in the universe. Because of the Father’s love, He sent His Son to die for the World! John 3:16 is a verse that is often used by new Christ followers, but it is almost overlooked by the Christ followers who have some years under their belt.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
As simple as John 3:16 might be, John 3:16 is simply the Gospel of Jesus. Isn’t it amazing that God loved us sinners so much that He would offer His perfect Son in place of the sinners in order for the sinners to have life, and life with the Father.
I have learned that we can do nothing to earn the love of God. No matter how many times we read the bible, or how much we pray, or how many times we go to church, or how much money we give, or even how many laws we abide by in order to avoid sin, nothing we do can earn God’s love.
Even better news, is that nothing can separate us from the love of God.
Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The love of God is always there, the problem is that we often do not accept His love. God can show us love in every aspect of life. I felt God’s love this week as I was driving a motorcycle that I rented in Kenya. I felt God’s love as I read the word this morning. I felt God’s love as we had our thanksgiving dinner as a team who came together and cooked a meal consisting of chicken, corn, green beans, baked beans, cabbage, stuffing, rolls, and even mashed potatoes and gravy. (whoever made the list of love languages forgot to add food as a love language). I felt so loved by God this week and it’s all because I have accepted His love. Some people could have the same awesome week that I had and still feel unloved because they did not accept the love that God was giving them.
God loves everyone the same. The reason that people do not feel loved by God is because they have not accepted God’s love. I am learning to accept His love daily. I have recently been reminded (by God) that loving God and loving people are the most important things in life. I love God for who He is and He loves me because I am His.
I want to repeat myself, I love God for who He is and He loves me because I am His. Everyone is His, made in His image. Everyone is a loved child of God and when we see people as God sees people, we love them regardless of their ethnicity, economic status, religion, sexual orientation, political views, ect. I have decided that it is my job to love, not judge.
Galatians 5:6
…the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
God revealed this verse to me and I had a revelation of some sort. I had the realization that life without love is worthless. The only thing that matters in life is spreading the love of God because through that love, people will be able to see and receive God’s love for themselves. God is love and I want to tell people the story of how God showed his love for us by the work that was done on the cross.
I would like to encourage and challenge you to show the love of God this week. Spread God’s love because there is someone that you will encounter this week that is not feeling loved and you could bring them hope through showing them love. Love has the power to save. If you show love to another you show them God because God is love.
