I wake up to chickens at 2 a.m in the morning, begging the Lord to let them be quiet. Then, right as I fall asleep there is a thunderstorm and I’m awake for another hour. I plug in the music and fall asleep finally. Then the sun appears in the window at 5 a.m. and I wake up realizing I have an hour to sleep. So I’m up at 6:00 a.m. ready for the day. I unzip my tent and get up from the sleeping pad I’m sleeping on this month. We are in a house with simple floor boards where you can see the chickens underneath but an awesome view of the mountains! So I go to take a cold bucket shower and thanks Mom for bringing me a real towel because I’ve never loved a towel in my whole life until now! Then we go up to the school to get breakfast and they serve us hot Chi tea, cookies, bananas, and papaya!! Breakfast has been my favorite meal on the Race!! Then I have Jesus time and hang out with my team.
Today we are asked to teach 2nd grade!! So we come up with some games and bible stories 15 minuets before class. Jenna Rose one of my teammates sang some songs for them wile I prepared a lesson for the kids. We are talking about obedience so we told the story of Ester and got them to draw the characters on the board. Then we did Jonah and the Wale. We taught our class about the fruits of the spirit and had actions to them. We played lots and lots of games until the bell rang the the kids ran out of the classroom to have lunch. Lunch was curi and bananas. We went back to class and continued playing games until they got dismissed from school. We are each assigned a group of kids to go to the first ginger festival for tomorrow.
And now it’s 3:00 so we hang out, read books, play downloaded movies because there is not WiFi or service. My girls team all lay on the wooden bed with a few thin blankets and just talk. Memories like these are the ones I’ll remember most! I hand wash my clothes. Getting my water from a big bucket by our house. One for dirty clothes and the other to rinse and then put it on the line to dry. Then I eat lunch which is puri and fruit. We all sit together and talk, laugh, and play games. We also have team time. For team time we are all worshiping to fill up with the Lord. Then I journal and we hear a mouse and so I’m on a bench trying not to step on it. We try to find this mouse but no luck. I tell Bernadette my teammate, sleep tight don’t let the mouse bite. And I’m off to bed but at 10:00 p.m. Sara our squad leader hears the mouse squeal behind her pillow. She traps the mouse and gets her water bottle and kills the mouse with the blood on her pillow. We are all scared and Bernadette asks to sleep in my tent, so she does and the here comes the rain once again. Our house is on the edge of the mountain, so there are concrete bricks holding up our house. Our thought was that if it rains to much there will be a land slide and our house will fall down the hill but luckily that didn’t happen! Just another normal day in India!
