Thailand has my heart. I can’t wait to share with you more soon about the deep parts but for now this is an update for where I’m at! My team and I arrived in Ban Doi on Sunday where we will be doing ministry for approximately three weeks.

The house we are staying in is two stories and contains zero furniture but is surprisingly homey. Our kitchen consists of a microwave, panini press, rice cooker, and the new addition of a griddle. We sleep in the upper story atop our sleeping pads, surrounded by our tents or mosquito nets for my teammate Mary Grace and I. We have a bathroom with a squatty potty and a spigot for bucket showers. Also, because there’s no furniture there’s an ample amount of tile floors for all of my impromptu dance parties. It’s a great time.

For ministry the seven of us are English teachers at Ban Doi school. Each morning at 7:30 we walk about a half mile from our house to school. At 8 there is a flag ceremony to honor the king out in the school field with all of the children grades kindergarten through 6th. I am a third grade teacher and my kids are absolutely amazing and intelligent. They call me Teacher Mommy. I haven’t quite figured out yet why that is. So far I have taught them numbers 1-1,000,000, days and months, food and drinks, time, and body parts. They also give SO many great hugs. My class is the best class. (don’t tell my teammates)

I love it here. Thai people are the friendliest, most accommodating humans I have ever met. We are here to love them but they love us to the fullest. I have the utmost gratitude for this place, and I can’t wait to share all of the ways that God is going to minister to people over these three weeks.
