I’m going to India TONIGHT! Before I go, though, I want to tell you a story about a man who lived about 110 years ago. His name was William Borden.
William was the son of a wealthy Chicago business man and was an heir to a massive fortune. He graduated from Yale University in 1909 and pursued graduate work at Princeton University afterwards. Despite his vast wealth and impressive educational background, William was not interested in the pursuit of worldly success. Instead, he was passionate about bringing his Father’s kingdom.
As a young man of 25, William forsook his fortune and comfortable life to share the Gospel with Muslims in northern China. Upon receiving criticism for his choice from those closest to him, William wrote 2 words in his Bible– No Reserve.
Willam stopped first in Egypt to study Arabic. While in Egypt, he contracted spinal meningitis. William died within a month and never made it to China.
When William’s Bible was recovered after his death, his mother found 4 more words. No Retreat dated shortly after William’s father told him that by becoming a missionary he was forfeiting his place in the family business permanently. And No Regrets written days before his death.
As I commit myself to 11 months of ministry in 11 countries, I strive to have the same resolve as William Borden. To have no reserve regarding my calling to this work and to pursue it fearlessly. To refuse to retreat when daunting circumstances arise. To stave off regrets about the comforts of home that I am leaving behind.
I am leaving the country tonight with William’s words written in the cover of my Bible.
Please pray for me and for the 57 others I’m serving with on the World Race as we begin this incredible journey. My next update will be from India!
If you feel led to support my journey on the World Race, I am about $5,000 away from my final financial deadline. Simply click the Donate! button on this blog to give. Thank you all for your support!
