It was busy.
It consisted of us taking a train to a slum or remote village.
We would preach, teach, pray, play.
We were stoked!
The first couple of days we were late for a number of reasons.
Once we got on schedule we realized that they were never waiting on us.
They were given a time to get us but they didn't do ministry that early normally so they would just show up on their time.
Meaning we would focus on ourselves.
Fill ourselves up now with the bible with music with podcasts so that we wouldn't have to stay up late.
We always went to a different spot.
It would always be a 30/45min walk.
One day we went to a slum.
Unknown to us, no white persons or ministry had EVER gone to this slum.
We taught the kids about David and Goliath and had them act it out.
Sang songs.
Played games.
Then the parents came and I gave a word.
We prayed for them.
Tears were shed.
Then as we were leaving we found out something.
The women in charge got a crazy vision months ago that white people would come and minister to them.
Craziness!
Then, as we were walking out kids were laughing dancing singing running everywhere.
Right at the edge of the slum we spotted a spray painted sign "God is Love." 🙂
We had many different experiences like this but it was always 'same same but different.'
When we got back from ministry we would head straight to dinner.
We ate with around 50 kids every night that had been rescued.
What was amazing about them was this: they would ask us, missionaries, if we knew Jesus.
They were so worried that we didn't.
They live in a Christian home now but come from a bad past.
They all would pray before dinner and it wasn't simple short prayers either.
Next would be team time around 10pm.
Not one of us wanted to be there.
We just wanted to sleep.
But Austin would push us to grow and rely on each other so that we can be spiritually refreshed.
It always worked.
Thanks Austin!
Our sleeping arrangements weren't ideal.
One 'bed' and three one the floor.
I now can pass out on hard floor!
That's how tired we'd be.
We would then wake up at 8:25am to start the day all over again.
