I know it has been so long since I blogged last. It almost seems impossible to write out even a small bit of what has been going on.
But here is my attempt at a summary:
Thailand ended beautifully. My team and I spent our last 10 days in a small village a few hours away from where we had been living, in Korat. The village was so much fun. We did house visits to the church member during the day, and then ran and after school program type thing from 4-6pm for kids in the village. The kids definitely stayed until we made them go home, sometimes even as late as 10pm. There was very limited English there, even with our contact, which made it even more of a challenge, but also so much more fun!
After that, our team (along with all of the other teams) went to Chiang Mai, for Parent Vision Trip, where our parents were able to join us for a week of ministry!
I got to see my parents for the first time in 6 months, and it was a wonderful reunion! I loved being able to work along side my parents during that week and learn from them as well!!
Then our squad went to Pattaya, Thailand for a few days of debrief, before leaving for Africa.
During debrief we were assigned new teams that we would be with for these last 3 months. That came as a big surprise, and at first I was so sad. I never realized how much I had grown attached to my team and the comfort that it was for me.
My new team is so wonderful though! I love getting to know each of them better, and seeing the ways we are able to encourage and love one another differently than my old team did.
We left Thailand, and traveled for 36+ hours, to make it to Livingstone, Zambia (Africa).
We have now been in Zambia for about 10 days.
Zambia is much different than Thailand. My new team is much different than my old team. Our new contact is totally different then our old one.
It almost feels that nothing is the same.
The first few days that we were here, I felt overwhelmed by discomfort. It’s so hot here, all the time. And all of the changes around me definitely wore me out. I usually adapt pretty well to change, but this change has seemed hard.
Each day, I fall more and more in love with Zambia, though. The people are incredibly friendly. God is already teaching me so much here!
I will write a blog soon (hopefully) about more of what our ministry and life here look like.
I hope each of you are well!!!
xo
