Fix your eyes on Jesus and…WEIGHT PATIENTLY
I keep retiring to ONE word. Kabowd (Kaw-bode) Yes, I meant to type returning, but just maybe, retire is a better fit. To retire is to REST or go away to. Oh how I love my bed chambers (aka one bedroom apartment). It’s official, my precious niece Ellen and her love of princesses have consumed my thoughts. I don’t know about you, but in THIS life I find that far too many words fail to carry weight. Weighty promises are made and more often than not, they turn up empty. Men and Women are found to be human 100% of the time…so in turn, disappointment is imminent. Can I get an “Amen” to that? Just look at the statistics. I realize I’m stating the obvious here, but I too need to be reminded from time to time. Kabowd. Believe it or not, I didn’t just bid you adieu in a, “Shalom” kind of way.
No, Kabowd is something fierce to be reckoned with. Full of glory and honor…unashamed splendorous clothing, fit for a king. ONE King…to be traded not. Kabowd means “to carry weight.” figuratively that is. No other name carries greater weight than the mention of His name, JESUS. Now we’re talkin! We KNOW weight. Whether that be physical weight loss, or even debt loss, you can relate to such a concept wanting to be rid of something pesky. OR maybe you’ve lost a spouse, a child, a treasured friend, or worse yet, HOPE…all of which carry weight that leaves you speechless. I don’t know your story, But He does. In July of 2015 I will embark on a call upon my life…and where I fix my eyes matters. Straight ahead is my policy with Proverbs 4:23-27 my guide. And in the waiting, I’m weighting. 2 Peter 1:5-8 always my testimony. Addition by subtraction with the God of multiplication.
Are you waiting patiently or weighting patiently? It’s not really a trick question, but tis’ true a play on words. Take a look at your circumstances using the visual above. Each weight has a name. What are they? On the other side, not pictured for effect…are larger weights with greater purpose. God IS, God WILL, and God CAN…tip the scale in your life. He is working even when you can’t see evidence of it. He always achieves with purpose. AND He is able. BUT you must abide IN Him. Wait on Him with all your weight…and trust the harvest. The ugly doesn’t become less ugly. The dead don’t return to their homes. AND what sucked still sucks. But you can grieve those weights WITH HOPE.
I’ll be the first to tell you that I pray treasured far more than I seek the true TREASURE, namely His word. I want to, I plan to, and therein lies the problem. My want is recognized as coming from me alone, and the plans I speak of with great enthusiasm, they too take up residence in my mind. So I’ve learned to pray, “Have your way in me.” I fail to bind on my fingers and hands. As if the tablet of my heart is MIA, or I’ve lost the pen. AND usually I leave at least one piece of Ephesians 6 clothing behind when I walk out the door each day. Do you? Kabowd.
The glory of the LORD far outweighs your temporal suffering. Not why me, but why not me? For the joy set before Him He…. You fill in the blank. And then it’s your turn. With your eyes fixed on Jesus is there anything you can’t endure WITH HOPE? IF ____, THEN GOD. Moses sought glory. He requested, “Show me yourself in all your splendor.” Exodus 33:18 Moses wanted tuwb (nothing withheld) when it came to his request. Author, John Bevere writes, “We see then that the glory of the Lord is everything that makes God, God. All His characteristics,
authority, power, wisdom—literally the immeasurable weight and magnitude of God—are contained within God’s glory. Nothing is hidden or held back!”
Adam and Eve hid in shame. What will you do when the glory of the LORD comes upon you? This just in…the timid have put in a request for a drive-by passing instead. I cry out, “Let us become more aware of your presence.” Or in the styling of Hillsong, “Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander. And my faith would be made stronger in the presence of my Savior.” But don’t casually sing those lyrics dismissing the call. God is planning His work and working His plan…and I am called to WEIGHT PATIENTLY…so unswervingly I hold. (Heb. 10:23) Kabowd AND God’s response to Moses, “Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you.” —Exodus 33:19 Will you weight patiently as He tips the scale in your story? …and before I say, “Goodbye” CHECK OUT the promises in Romans 8:11-25
11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Present Suffering and Future Glory
18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
