I was challenged by the Lord a week ago to write this blog so hear it is. I hope you enjoy it! These are questions asked by supporters, friends and family even some squad mates. These are only my answers and opinions reguarding my race.
What is the average internet speed on an African bus?
Non existent, just like the speed of the bus. Gotta love Africa and their Internet and speed limits, lack of I should say. If you are on an African bus with an expected time travel if 3-4 hours, always always prepare for 8 hours or more! They pack the bus like cans of sardines. Now European bus internet… yaaassss.
What do you believe the Lord has shown you thru WR that has been a life changing attitude for you?
Grace on grace on grace. The concept of grace. It’s been spoken over me since the beginning to learn to live a more grace filled life for others. I will carry that after the race especially when it comes to people I don’t think “deserve” it or don’t want to show it. That feedback will always stick with me.
What has been the greatest challenge of your flesh?
My greatest challenge of my flesh, well I’ve had many but one that is sticking out for this question is lies. I have never fallen into so many lies in my whole with the Lord until the race.
How have your goals changed month to month from where they were originally?
I think as the more time goes on, the more intimate the goals become. Month 1 goal for example may be something like “pursue my teammates” and month 9 goal may be more in depth”let me pursue my teammates through compassion and prayer” something along those lines because for me at least the more time goes and and my relationship grows deeper with the Lord he reveals much more that changes the depths of things such as month to month goals.
What has been the greatest disappointment that you have seen about yourself?
This goes back to the flesh question above, how much I have fallen into the enemy’s schemes and tricks time after time and have given him so much attention and control over this season. Telling myself it’s bad to be a mess and stuff everything which in the end hurts myself and the others trying to pour into me. Also that I have allowed most of my race be controlled by so much hurt of many things in my life. I’ve allowed that hurt to shape most of my race.
How has time affected you? In the area of having more of it…vs the American fast paced life?
Mm time is so weird on the race. Some days you think you’ve been doing this for years and other days it’s gone within a blink of an eye. We say “the days are long but the months are short”. PATIENCE! It has grown me so muccccchhh in patience. It’s nice to get a break from the fast paced lifestyle. It makes you appreciate things a lot more when time is on what we think slower scale over here in other countries. Most countries are not fast paced, so with that you become more likely to actually build deeper relationships because time is not your owner. When you pass someone on the street and ask how they are doing you mean it and can hold a full on conversation right there on the sidewalk compared to America it’s someone has somewhere to be always which I think causes us to miss out on hearing he Holy Spirit if he wants us to pray or talk to people and simple every day engagements with one another. My favorite are travel days, we have scheduled times to arrive but something always goes wrong on a classic travel day which pushes back the time of arrival but our squad has become so flexible and not stressed we all have this”we will get there when we get there” mentality because there’s really no reason to stress about something that is out of our control.
there you have it, I hope that gives some perspecitve and understanding on how the race has been for me. I’ve had so much fun answering all these questions so thank you to everyone who submitted them! There is another half of questions and answers, go check out those as well! God bless everyone
