Month 2 summary in one word: Lies. Yep, you are hearing that correctly, I willingly bought into every lie possible last month. These were crazy lies that I don’t even know where they came from. I slowly became a prisoner to my own mind and began to twist the lies into my own true reality. I was quickly awakened from that. Praise God!
If there’s any sort of lesson I got out of last month it is this: when we put ourselves right on the front lines on the battlefield for the Lord, we are paining a big X on our backs that Satan spots and tries to shoot us down with every lame attempt he has. It’s a simple lesson yes, but also one that is easily forgotten. Sometimes when we are under a spiritual attack, we forget why we are being attacked, because we are stepping on his territory! We were stepping on a territory of temples and idols, sex trafficking, all sorts of evil. But in the end, I had to cling back to the truth that those lies have already been defeated and one of two choices, continue my race with these lies that were so loud in my head I had no idea how to shut them off, or put on the armor of God and fight back.
Right now… I am fighting back.
Fast forward to the middle of month 3, what the heck??? Its already month 3!!! It is unsung hero month. Unsung hero month is different than any other month. We actually have no contacts or hosts and are given an opportunity as a team to go on the search for new ministries and hosts to partner with. This month has one key word– FLEXABLITLY. The first week we were here, we ended up in a jungle! Yes, a real jungle. It was a camp, similar to a summer camp, ran by a Muslim family. Yep, you heard that part right too. Our first week on the field in Malaysia, we had the amazing chance to minister to a Muslim family and shine the light of Jesus. To give you some background on the part of Malaysia we are in, it is 97% Muslim and evangelizing and sharing the gospel is actually illegal. Talk about painting a red X on our backs! But in some weird way I love it, I love the challenge this state of Malaysia brings of “how do we reach people if what seems pretty much impossible, is illegal?” I don’t have that answer yet…
And the last lesson I am currently learning is, we actually, as Americans; don’t need to fear these people, the Muslims. Something that has been stirring in my heart this past week is ‘ what if my friends were here, or even my family, would they be afraid to talk to these people?” Fear runs this country, especially this state, and even more so this city my team and I are in. But God has brought us to the people that us “ white” people fear back home. My team and I are right in the middle if Satan’s territory again. The thing that is different from last month to this month is, I am wearing the FULL armor of God and ready for this battle we are heading into for the month.
