The halfway point!

Officially 5 and half months in and gone just like that!

My team and I celebrated our half way point Friday, st. Patrick’s day, with a good ol fashioned lunch. You know you’re a world racer when on your day off you choose to grub out and break budget on good food at malls.

As I’ve been reflecting on the time I’ve had these past months, I thought about all the amazing places I’ve been able to share the gospel around the world.

Cambodia: classrooms/ at our house with the children
Thailand: in the slums and the boxing ring
Malaysia: to complete strangers in
their homes over a 4 course meal for hours
Philippines: on the radio, on the 6 am news (that was exciting) , classrooms
Zimbabwe: door to door
Zambia: classrooms (my personal fav)

Different ministries in the past 6 months:
Teach English
Bible studies at a children’s home
Work in the slums
Unsung hero month(find contacts for aim)
Evangelize in schools
Door to door evangelism
Preach
Teach all subjects
Motivational speaking

Living environments:
Tented in the children’s home
Lived upstairs in a cafe (bunk bed style)
Hostels
House by ourselves/other teams
Houses with host and their families

5 and half more months left of this journey.

What my race has been:
Stretching
Hard
Uncomfortable
Worth it.

What the next 5 and half months will be:
Stretching
Uncomfortable
Challenging
Worth it.

Fun adventures I’ve experienced the first half:
•Climbed up an 800 step temple
•anchor wat
•Been chased by geese
•Chased goats down the street
•Played with elephants
•Rode on the back of a moto to pick fresh strawberries and visit a tea plantation
•saw the twin towers in Malaysia
•Visited a new island (first time i ever saw clear water in the ocean) and took surfing lessons at one of our debriefs
•Victoria falls/gorge swing
•getting yelled at by a drunk a tuk til driver while at the hospital
•left our bus to walk the remaining 6 miles to our hostel(it was faster)
•visited the capital cities of Cambodia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Zimbabwe and Zambia
•tour of the genocide museum
•got a tattoo at the same place in Thailand I went 3 years ago

Fun Animals I’ve seen so far:
Monkeys
zebras(my personal favorite)
Wild hogs
Deer
Baboons
Goats

Things I’ve been reminded on while being on the race:
•The enemy has already been defeated
•Sharing the gospel can be easy, but also hard depending on where we’re at , but never impossible
•Embracing the culture, people and your living environment is key to a successful month
•God is a fun god

Leaving family and friends, everyday comforts, has not been the easiest but completely worth it to spread the Gospel of Christ to these nations so that one day we can all be untied again in heaven.

acts 20:35
“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
