So hear it goes. I’ve been putting this post off for a while because I’m really not a fan of asking for money. Sending the letters is easy, it’s the phone call that is the hardest for me. Of course my strong dislike for talking on the phone doesn’t help the matter either.
To be honest though, with the experiences I’ve had and other Racer’s blogs, it’s not all that bad. I have been in this position before with previous mission trips so I know that God is fully in charge and can/will do amazing things! So without anymore babbling from me here are some ways you can donate to my trip:
1. Monthly Donations from your Checking Account (through Dynapay)
Go to https://www.adventures.org/dynapay to set up your monthly gift.
- Each donation will be withdrawn on the 3rd or 18th of the month.
- Be sure to select an end date, on or before February 28, 2015 (my 6th month on the field). Make sure you do this, otherwise it will keep withdrawing from your account.
- This site is great because there are no processing fees.
2. Online Donations through My Blog
Click the “Support Me!” link to donate online using your credit/debit card or checking account. This option is best for one-time gifts as there is a 3% processing fee for credit/debit cards and 2% processing fee for checking accounts.
3. Mailing a Check
Make checks payable to Adventures in Missions and write “Appealed by Brooke Conn” in the memo line.
- Mail checks to:
Adventures in Missions
PO Box 534470
Atlanta, GA 30353-4470
All donations are tax deductible. You will receive a receipt when donations are processed.
4. Support a Child
This one is pretty much my favourite! By clicking on the logo to the left you can select a child to support. For every child sponsored for 12 months, I receive a $50 scholarship from Food for the Hungry. (If you want the scholarship to come to me make sure you select the link from here.)
That’s right, a child is provided for AND I get $50.
By sponsoring a child you, donor, are partnering with me in bringing the Kingdom to the nations through Food for the Hungry, providing for a child, and supporting my Race!!
“Food for the Hungry (FH) is a Christian organization serving the poor globally since 1971. We reflect the love of Christ in short-term emergency relief and long-term work to end world hunger. Learn about FH’s vision, mission and values.”
5. Personal Check Made out to Me
This one is not tax deductible as it will come straight to me to be used for gear, vaccinations, travel to training, travel to the start point (in the U.S.), and travel home from a major U.S. city at the end of the race. Whatever is not used will go into my World Race account or be used for spending money while overseas.
So, What Does the Money Cover?
The money raised for The World Race will cover my costs for the 11-month trip. This includes meals, lodging, air, land, and sea travel, administrative costs, set-up costs, coaching costs, debriefing costs, and training camp costs.
