It’s been about 8 days since I’ve been home from training camp and if you’re anything like my mom you’ve been waiting 8 days to read a blog explaining everything. So let me say that I’m sorry it has taken so long, and I’m even more sorry that this isn’t that blog.
Training camp was an incredible experience filled to the brim with challenges so I’m still processing and learning how to make those changes to my life at home. I promise there will be a blog dedicated to training camp coming soon, but for now I just want to update everyone on some exciting things!
I am officially less than 6 weeks away from launch and I’m about 72% funded – this means I only need about $4,500 to be fully funded! Thank you to those of you have already donated, it means more to me than I could ever express to you. My goal is to be fully funded before I launch in August. There is at least one more fundraiser in the works, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
At training camp I had the opportunity to meet my wonderful squad face-to-face! My squad is J Squad and consists on 55 other men and women that are on the same route that I am, meaning we will be traveling to the same countries! You can follow the hashtag #JourneyofJ to experience our journey through 56 different people – there are already some awesome pictures! Our route is currently Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic (this is subject to change at any time). Ministry differs from country to country so I can’t give you many details on what exactly we’ll be doing in each country until closer time to being there.
Our squad was split into 8 teams, and those teams will be spread out throughout the country doing ministry together. I am blessed to be loving and living all over the world with Team Shalom – those lovely women on the left-hand side of my blog! You can go ahead and subscribe to their blogs and keep updated with them as well. Don’t worry, you will hear more about each of them also!
Lastly, as most of you I won’t be in contact very much while I’m away. Because we change countries so often, we can’t receive mail. We have made it a goal to be intentional with our time in each country so our time emailing and time on social media will be extremely limited (even if we have access to wifi). So I would love to be able to take letters from home! If you would like to write me a letter to open on my journey, you can give it to me at any point up until my launch date. You are welcome to write as many as you’d like and you are even welcome to specify when you want me to open it while I’m away (it could be a certain date or month or even country).
Thank you for your continued outpouring of love and support.
With love
