Finally, after 6 years’ absence, we have returned to the city where Pablo grew up: Pachuca, Hildalgo, Mexico. Pachuca is a busy city, comparable to any metropolis on the East Coast like DC or Baltimore, but located on shoulders of the Sierra. Even at 8,000 feet the winters are mild. Right now it is chilly at night, while a t-shirt is comfortable during the day. We will spend a week here with my in-laws and then a week down in the coastal state of Verucruz for a family wedding. It is warmer there, and they tell me we will be in the country, so I’m really excited to see it.

After a few weeks of settling in and visiting family and friends we haven’t seen in ages, Pablo and I will have the opportunity to do ministry in the city of Ixmiquilpan (iks-me-kill-pen) with a missionary man who plants churches and pastors the men he raises up to lead them. Pablo and I both worked with his ministry many years ago but now I am excited to learn more about how reaching people with the gospel works in Mexico as well as church-planting in general.

Pablo and I will also meet up with a missionary doing work in a poor area near Guanajuato in February. He has just built a school for the children in the area, and his ministry is growing so fast he is in need of staff to help.

It is wonderful that God has opened the door for Pablo and I to come to Mexico together. We are praying that God will open our eyes to the need in the world while we are here and show us what our part to play in meeting that need will be.

Hugs to all of you back home and love to all my future race-mates that may be reading this. Love you all so much!
