First week in Bulgaria!

Is my turn to tell you what’s going on here in Bulgaria, well first, when we finally arrived in Bulgaria we found out that my luggage didn’t make it, that was a little frustrating for us specially for me, my life for the next 11 months is in that backpack! Anyways, after we reported it to the airline, we went ahead and stayed the night in a Hostel that as you can see bellow in the picture was a little bit sketchy

As you can see at first sight, the entrance was a little intimidating

After spending the night in the hostel we left for our first stop, a gypsy community in the Bulgarian mountains where we had the chance to minister and play with the kids of that community. I forgot everything about my lost bag. I knew that God was giving me the opportunity to work with this people, with these kids, it was really neat to see the kids taking their shoes off before entering the church. It reminded me of Moses when he found the burning bush. God spoke to him saying “Take your shoes off because this is holy ground”. I enjoy the time we spent with the kids, so much that I forgot about my bag. The next day we were ready to go to our next location. By the way, it was Monday morning and still no bag! (note that we left the USA on Thursday).

We move to our next location. We took a bus and drove for two and half hours. Here we are working with a Pastor who is building what is going to be the first Christian Church in the community. We are all exited to help and be part of it. In this town we have noticed two mosque buildings and one old Orthodox Church, so knowing that this is something big and new for the community is really awesome. Tuesday evening, I finally got my backpack back.

We cleaned the yard and pulled some weeds, cut wood and worked on a garage that apparently caught on fire about a month or two ago. Some stuff was lost and we were able to clean the stuff that was recovered.

After working for a full day we had the chance to go to the community track and field and play soccer with the kids and adults.
