This past month in India, God has opened my eyes to a world full of bright colors, deeply rooted traditions and rich culture that I was unaware of before. I have seen so much beauty in India, and encountered some amazing people. I want to share with you some of the experiences I have had during my time here.

Our first day on the streets of Hyderabad our hosts treated us to coconuts! We ate these as often as possible.

The traditional dress for women in India is called a “saree” (pronounced like sorry) usually bright colored and wildly patterned.

Naveen is teaching Pablo how to eat his curry and rice Indian style – just fingers!

When in India, henna art is a must.

A hindu woman I met in the park, holding her grandson. They were so friendly, they invited me to take an oxcart ride with them.

It is entirely normal for guys to hold hands here. Just two bros headed to the market.

We spend a lot of time with the kids from the slum behind our building. Even though we can’t go into the slum because of territorial issues, the kids come over every day to play with us, watch movies with us or just to hang out and see what were doing.

Slums are actually small areas of makeshift houses, sometimes containing just a few families. This slum, directly behind the worship center, is considered a very large slum and takes up about two city blocks.

Our entire team has spent a lot of time teaching this month. Pretty much anything we know, they want to learn! Here I am teaching some basic principles for using drama in ministry.

We got it!

The most beautiful part of this month has been the atmosphere of worship surrounding us. I have encountered a freedom that I have always hungered for, and found a group of people who share the passion that I have for using music to celebrate and worship our Lord. I’m so thankful for God placing me in India this month. I did not expect this place to touch my heart, but God has used it to teach me about himself and my role in reaching the nations.
