I have known that one of the reasons I was called to this adventure was to see how big God really is and stop putting Him in my little American box of practicality. What I didn't plan, was for God to seem so big and start showing up in such huge ways just in the preparation. I have heard the word "provision" thrown around alot in the church and Christian talk; what a blessed thing right? I think I am finally grasping what His provision looks like and how divine it is.
I'm sure I cannot share every detail He is working out in my life but let me share some areas in which I have been divinely shocked.
First, I have to admit I never really expected God to "take control of my fundraising". I have the tendency to hedge my bets and was almost expecting to have to bail out or find a plan B to get support. That was before I saw what everyone meant by "He will provide the way". Wow, I have been so amazed by who and how funds have come in and am excited to see how He will continue to work it out. I think I have felt most provided for by the little things that tend to cause the most worry and frustration. In Luke 12: 22, Jesus tells us not to worry about anything, that He willl take care of every detail and reminds us that he even cares for the birds and flowers in every way. I forget this so often and work so hard to provide for myself, when His plan is already in motion. I have felt so wonderfully cared for by the people he has placed around me, the opportunities presented, and even the physical needs met necessary to prepare.
If God is already appearing so much bigger and my need for Him has become so much greater with just the preparation of such an adventure, I cannot imagine how indescribable my God will be in the next year and the rest of my life. I look forward to falling in love again and anew with the creator of the world that I am about to explore and experience thanks to His divine provision. I invite you to join me in discovering this provider who is just as BIG everywhere and needed just as much in all of our lives over the next year so that we can exchange stories from all over the globe.
