MEET BAROK!
Barok is a boy who lives in the Philippines. He is 10 years old and lives in a squatter camp outside of Manilla. I met him today and walked with him over to where we
were doing a feeding program, on the way I was asking him questions but he
couldn’t understand me and that’s when I learned he couldn’t afford
to go to school. His family doesn’t make enough money to cover the
1,000 pesos a year, which adds up to $21.71 USD, to send him.
The community my team and I have the
privilege to work in this month is one that was devastated by
typhoon ondoy that hit the Philippines in September of 2009. The
homes there were washed away along with most of there personal items.
Where they live now is a squatter camp where they have been just
since January. The people there are beautiful but have lost a lot of
hope. Especially since they learned the land they are now living on
is owned by an individual who is interested in selling the land and
wants them, the 100 families, to vacate. The community is taking
them to court to try to get the government to buy the land so they
won’t have to move. Hopefully that will happen.

Most of the people there are not
christian but have been nothing but nice and so excited to have us
there and showing them love. The kind of love that can only come from
God. We just started our mission there but I know God has already
started doing amazing things.
Our ministry contact there is a lady
named Emily. She has a great passion for the people there! She has
been doing all she can as a single mother of two to continue doing
the work God has called her to. God has provided for her in so many
ways including working with Kids International Missions which is
where we are staying for the month. With these two great ministries
working together, there is no end to what God will do here.

Please join me in praying for the
people here in the Philippines. Also for the ministries here, that
God will continue to bless them throughout and far beyond our time
here. Pray that the people will be open to hearing Gods word and
that we, as a team, will follow only what God wants of us.
Thank you
Much Love!!
