We are now in Byron Bay, Australia. Which is the most eastern point in Australia. The town we are in is a small hippie town that gets backpackers from all over the world. It is a great place and the people here are so laid back and a lot of them are travelling alone. Which is really a cool thing and gives us a unique opportunity to meet them where they are at. Most people who backpack the world are on a journey looking for something. They are seekers and God has put us in the perfect place to speak to them about Jesus and their life and how what they are missing is GOD.
This month is all about really hearing the Holy Spirit and doind what God is calling us to do. We don’t have a specific ministry here. Mostly street evangelism and just being led to the people God wants us to talk to. We have teamed up some with YWAM people here and we went to free BBQ in the park that they put on right by the bus station. We welcome people into the town and give them free food and bibles. We spent the time with them just talking and telling them about Jesus. We had an awesome experience with one guy named Roma. He had been trying to get off drugs and cigarettes and had been clean for 3 days. We spoke and then he left but came back and said that he felt in his heart that he was supposed to be there. John, Emily and myself shared the Gospel with him and he told us how he felt God has been calling on him for a while so we asked if we could pray for him to accept Jesus and he did. John prayed the prayer and he received Christ!! AMAZING!!!!!! So please pray for him that he will continue to seek after God.
We experienced a hippie church as well. We learned that the way you phrase things here is very important. Like instead of just saying Jesus you would be better off saying the spirit of Christ. The people here are much more into peace, love and the Spirit.
I went to a meeting this morning and the speaker was really encouraging us to go out and talk to the people and be confident when you do it. The message was very powerful and I know it relates to all of you back home too. He was saying that when you feel the stirring of the spirit that you should really follow it. God wants to use you and me to reach people for His Kingdom. When we go to Heaven and look down you don’t want to see those people you were called to talk to looking up from the fiery lake asking why you didn’t share the truth with them. That hit me really hard! I know that God is way bigger than I am but He is calling to me because He wants to use me and He wants to use you too. So I encourage you to stay open and stay aware of the Holy Spirit inside of you.
There’s so much I want to share. There’s been a ton going on.
Today starting at 2pm we are doing 24 hours of prayer and worship on the beach. It’s a great way to reach the people her so please pray for that and I will catch you up on it in the next blog.
PEACE and LOVE!!!!!
