We got back to the village after Cambodia and the next day we went to a mainly Buddhist school to teach English.  We went in being told we weren’t supposed to do anything involving Jesus or the bible.  One of the first things I noticed is the kids with Buddha necklaces on and strings around their wrist to ward off evil spirits or for healing, again the heaviness.  Those kids being brought up in that and their parents too.  It’s generational.  You can only believe what you know or have been taught.  It’s such a hard cycle to get out of.  That’s why people need to be praying hard for these countries and for missionaries to come and tell them. If not how are they going to know??
Sorry, soapbox moment J
So we go in and do our classes and have some break times in the middle to do songs and have fun with the kids and then one of the girls asked if we could do a bible story and they said yes! Thank you Jesus!!  Then we got to go back the next day and we had been thinking of how to share the Gospel with them during one of our breaks.  It’s hard to share with  people who have never heard of Jesus and you don’t speak the same language but luckily the lady we are staying with, mom, shared for us.  We hade decided the night before to go with the wordless book, kind of.  Along those lines.  She shared and we got to do some fun worship songs with them..
After we left mom and Katy, the missionary who lives here, were saying how amazing it was that they even let us talk about God.  Also how they invited them back to speak and how some of the teachers gave mom their numbers so they could talk more about it.  One of the teachers had been recently questioning Buddha and how you have to earn “merit” with him and that’s why people do nice things but how he could see in Christianity we do it because of love.  Love for God and for people.
God is so GOOD!!  He works in situations and you never know what He’s going to do.  During those 3 days God showed me how badly this country needs prayer and people willing to come share with them.  In that, He put a heaviness on my heart for the people but in the same way He lifted it and showed me how much one team can do.  So please pray for the students and teachers in the school and for the family we are staying with and that God continues His awesome work here.
Much Love!!
