We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this mission trip. Here is what I am expecting…
On my first mission trip to Africa we had everything planned out. We were there to build the first orphan house in a small village. They made the blocks we were going to use before we got there and had laid the concrete slab. We get there and have about 7 days in the village to build up the walls and put the roof on. We were determined to get it done and we got a great start but then getting water to mix the mortar became an issue. We kept having to pull away from that job and at first it se

emed frustrating, I mean that is what we were there to do. Or so we thought.
Not having the water gave us an amazing opportunity to take a step back and really get to know the people. As important as it was to have a place for the orphans, it was more important for us to show Gods love to the people. That is our number 1 calling as christians. To love the Lord Our God and to show His love to others.
So as much as we plan, Gods plans are always better.
And as far as expectations…
I expect for my little world to be radically rocked and for God to use me.
I expect God to break me down and to build me back up into a woman that looks more like Him.
I expect to be a blessing but know I will be blessed more by those I meet.
I expect to meet AMAZING people who are on the race with me and those who are in all the places we will visit.
I expect to be extremely home sick and to miss my friends and family like crazy.
I expect to feel happy, sad, scared, lonely, crowded, loved, and every emotion out there.
I expect to have the time of my life!!
I KNOW that God will be there every step of the way. Watching over us as we go out to serve His people.
