The first week in the jungle has been incredible.  While it has been a challenge communicating we have been able to love on the people and have been accepted into the community.  We actually just found out we will be staying here one more week so we will have more time to get to know the people.
On Easter morning at 2:30 am our translator Pastor Dulek came to the window of the church yelling “Brook, Brook, baby!”  To say the least I was caught a little off guard.  I finally woke up not knowing what was going on Margie, Christine and myself went outside and over to Pastor Hems house where his wife was in labor.  We were kind of shocked.  We got there right as she delivered a beautiful baby girl.  We stood there in awe of what just happened, half asleep but so excited.  I have to say the women here are tough. We came in and she had just given birth and 3 of her other kids were still sleeping right next to her.  Also the next morning we went over for breakfast and she was up making tea. Amazing!!
Easter morning before the service the Hem family asked for our team to name the baby.  This is a huge honor so we discussed it as a team and decided on the name Grace. We thought it was fitting.  That day Jake preached on the resurrection and we sang as a team in church and we are not the best singers but it was fun.  It was a pretty amazing Easter.
