It’s been a month since I committed to the World Race. And one month from today is my first financial deadline of $3,500.
Everything in my life seems so normal right now, but it’s almost as if I am clinging onto the “normal” to keep my world from turning upside down. Though a part of me has been preparing for this potential endeavor for well over a year, it’s hard to adjust to a new reality. It takes time. And I know I’m not going to fully realize it until January when I’m on the plane to my first country. I think this stage may be similar to denial… I don’t like dealing with emotions so I tend to compartmentalize my life in an effort to maintain complete control. The truth is, that when everything hits me, I’m going to be in full panic mode. So, right now my prayer is that God continues to prepare my heart to deal with this crazy adventure he is leading me into.
One thing I’m going to do over the next several days is blog about each country on my World Race route. I want to cover these countries and people in prayer. I want to be aware of country-specific needs and start investing time and thought into them. So, first on the list is Dominican Republic.
