A Lamentation.

One Tuesday afternoon,

Wasn’t feeling so well,

Had a lot of diarrhea,

And a fever starting to swell.

I climbed down from my bunk searching Tylenol,

But on the way back up I fainted and took a fall.

Wednesday with the doctor,

Blood tests and other samples,

Turns out it was Typhoid fever,

(Kids don’t use me as an example.)

I was vaccinated but I guess that doesn’t matter,

When your immune system is as mad as a hatter.

Thursday got better,

Or so I thought.

Resting and watching movies,

Recovering as I ought,

I reached up to my hair to scratch my head,

When lo and behold I found a bug there instead.

Not much later,

It was confirmed,

I had lice in my hair,

(You can bet I squirmed.)

Ten minutes of treatment then a shower later,

I had become a louse exterminator.

Some weeks are good,

Others are not,

On the World Race

You never know your lot.

Typhoid fever and lice within days,

Even the bad stuff, give God all the praise.
