Hey folks,

I’ve been on a two day screen fast from media and let me
tell you, it is refreshing.  In that two
days, I’ve been drenched in community, the word and discipleship as I finish
out my training. I have also been learning the city REALLY WELL.  I’ve already re-picked up enough Spanish to
get around comfortably and hold some decent conversations with locals.  I went on a beautiful run through the city
with some squad mates (we are trying to balance the overload of carbs to our
system) and it led us to a beautiful hike (on which I tuckered out but
recovered. My excuse: the elevation.) which led to a beautiful view of the city
right below the volcano. I LOVE Antigua.

I am so excited to spend the next 11 months with these
people. I know that times are going to get tough, and tempers will flare due to
exhaustion. Already I am finding it is really hard to live on 11 Quetzales a
day for food. That breaks down into about $1.40 per meal. Thank you supporters
for helping to feed me. You funds are going directly into my belly. However,
even in Guatemala, 11Q won’t get you much. But let me share with you that my prayer,
as well as the prayer of all my squadmates, is that the world will know that we
are different by the love we have for each other as well as for those in the
nations,  despite the difficulties that
will come with our new lifestyle of abandonment, surrender, and simplicity.

As a treat after an exhausting flight, living transition,
team building and training, I went and hiked the volcano today.

That’s right. I hiked a volcano. In a misty cloud/monsoon.
AND I roasted marshmallows on the volcano’s steam.  I don’t know many people who can say they
roasted a marshmallow on a steam crevice of a volcano. AND If you know me, you know how
I feel about marshmallows. If you don’t know, I’m a fan.  My God is so
sweet as to give me something that my heart adventures for. He knows that a
part of my heart aches to see wild and wonderful creations around the
world.  And So He dotes on me.

As launch wraps up and we head into our ministry, I can say
with absolute confidence that I know I am supposed to be on the World Race.

Pray Today:

That my team can find nutritious meals

That we stay fit and healthy

That we find energy to serve each other in our exhausting
days

That the rest of my support comes in a timely manner. I’m
way ahead of my next deadline in January but I’m still not fully funded. So
Close!
