Most ministry that I’ve experienced in my short lifetime has been extremely structured, trained ministry. I like to call it “In the box” ministry. But we serve a creative God. I’ve been reminded so often during my time here in Thailand.  I’ve spent this month with some of the most creative people I’ve ever met.

Our ministry contact, Taa, who works with YWAM Thailand, has a huge heart for street ministry. Basically, we got to hang out with some really cool Thai people whose hobbies happen to be breakdancing and skateboarding. I may or may not have gained cool points and new dance moves for the next wedding I attend.

The emphasis of our time was with the breakdancers or B Boys as we came to know them.  Their creativity and devotion to the dance was nothing less than inspiring.

In our time here, my team was able to see two guys, that I now consider my friends, commit their lives to Christ after having been considering it for a while. 🙂  It was a beautiful thing to watch unfold in our time here. I believe its because of the way Taa has built a foundation with those guys. I love Taa’s approach to ministry. It is completely Spirit. Agenda-free. Relationally focused. Flexible. He offers nothing more or less than himself. And it is enough.

Man, that so hard for me to believe about myself sometime. That what I have to offer is enough. But it’s true. We are enough.

He does not force himself into these guys lives, he makes himself available. He opens his home and his life to them, revealing the love of God to everyone he comes into contact with. They know he lives differently and does not cast judgement. Slowly and surely, the B Boys, the skate boarders, the people of Thailand, are recognizing the contagious and radical Love that Taa possesses. I mean, the guy let these kids use their street art talents on his house. That’s some pretty radical, creative, outside-the-box love

The two boys who recently committed their lives to Christ already have leadership branded all over them.  Please be praying for my new friends as I believe that their decision is going to have radical consequences on the breakdancing community they are a part of. They have a lot of influence socially in the group. Pray for solidity in their decision as there will be pressure from the enemy, as their always is, to forget their new identity.
