It’s been a while since my last update. Let me fill you on what has happened since then.
Prior to leaving Kenya, my squad was re-united for our 8-month debrief. I’ve been on the field for 8 months! That’s just crazy. A whole lot has happened in 8 months. I’ve seen a lot, encountered a lot, met a lot of people and built a lot of relationships. Debrief is an opportunity to discuss all those “lots” of things. I did have a team change. I was reunited with Nathaniel from my very first team and lost Brian to Jeremy’s team. It was bittersweet but I believe God has purpose in those placements. It was a great time of worship, processing, healing and fun. In fact, there were many emotional, physical and relational healings that took place! God is showing up in amazing ways in the lives of the Racers that I live and work beside as well as in my own life. People were healed of gluten allergies, there were testimonies of brain tumors disappearing, even things as little as broken toes being healed. Crazy.
I personally have always been skeptical about physical healing, BUT I AM WITNESSING THEM WITH MY OWN EYES. I am a witness. I can testify. I don’t know how many of my blog readers were present when I first began fundraising but during that time, I said many times that I was tired of being de-sensitized by the potbellied children and poverty on TV and wanted to go see it for myself. I wanted to witness it for myself. I wanted to witness God working like I’ve heard so many people talk about. And now I have.
But not only is God healing out here on the field, I’m hearing about how He is healing back home in the states. There are cases of minds with dementia being restored, along with emotional and relational healing as well. God is so good!
I had a 16 hour bus ride with some the most beautiful scenery I've had on the Race. Unfortunately, I was asleep when we passed a herd of zebras but I hear they are pretty common and am hoping to see some in the future while I’m here in Africa. We arrived safely in Kampala and from there we traveled to Wobelenzi which is about an hour away.
We are living in the home of Pastor Moses and his family in the countryside of Uganda. We’ve been here over a week and already we have visited orphanages, taught lessons as well as evangelized in the schools, incessantly played with children who yell muzungu! (White person!) at us, visited hospitals, done door to door evangelism, preached and led worship in several church services. As far as I know two people have come to know Jesus since we’ve been here! We are really excited to follow up with them and are getting them Bibles.
Our time in Uganda is short. We only have about 2 weeks left here before we head to Tanzania. Time is flying by and you can be sure I’m making the most of it!
Continue to pray against Malaria for our team. So far, so good.
Pray for continued personal growth and wisdom as I strive to stay present yet still seek out what God has next for me.
Pray for supernatural energy for our squad and our team. It’s our ninth month of ministry, It can be exhausting but we want to represent Christ well in all that we do.
Pray for my re-entry to the U.S. At debrief, we were counseled on the difficulties that this can bring for Racers. Please be praying for my re-entry process. I don’t know how it is going to look. I guess the best thing to pray is that I keep my focus on Jesus and trust Him.
