Friends and Family,
I’m happy to share that Jesus is leading me into a new chapter since coming off the Race. Let me re-cap what I’ve been up to.
Since September 2012, I’ve had a season of rest and was able to catch up with family and friends for a few months once returning home. That fall, I began actively exploring my next steps and I thought I was going to be in Guatemala by January 2013. A ball began rolling but I didn’t have peace about the timing. As many of you know, I became engaged to Alex Rossie in December 2012 and that definitely threw my plans that I thought were confirmed by the Lord into a tizzy.
I had been confident I’d heard January and Guatemala together but I am fallible and it didn’t happen. I was bummed and felt foolish. As it turns out, I was provided with an opportunity to go to Michigan instead to learn about Islam and how to engage lovingly in Muslim communities. It was awesome. I’m excited to see what Jesus does with that training in the future.
After that, Jesus provided me with a work opportunity with a non-profit ministry that I’ve worked wit on and off with in the past called the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates. It works to defend and equip crisis pregnancy centers. It’s been incredibly rewarding to work with this organization and serve in the front lines of the abortion battles.
In the meantime, I’ve been attending a local church and have remained involved in a Tres Dias community. Alex and I just kicked off our mutual support raising efforts at Parkway Wesleyan Church in Roanoke, VA. We are now raising support as a couple.
Alex and I will soon be heading out of the country so that I can get a better grasp on what Mountain Gateway does as a ‘pioneering missions’ organization. For those of you who were like me and unfamiliar with the term pioneering missions, it is the gospel being taken to indigenous, never before reached people in remote places.
When we return, we will continue to raise long term support and partnership before leaving the country again. We will be getting hitched in October and will be landing in Antigua, Guatemala for Language school so that I can be more effective in ministry with my Spanish.
Right now, we need your prayer covering. We covet it for our safety and provision. If you are interested in more of what Alex and I will be up to, please be sure to contact us so we can get you on our newsletter email list for more detailed updates and please subscribe to our blog, www.alexandbrittneyrossie.com, for the latest info. We do it this way for safety reasons.
I’m so excited about this next chapter. It’s wild to think back to where I began on the World Race. I know many of you have been following my journey since that point, and others even before that!! I’m so grateful for you all, the support you’ve given. I haven’t always known how to receive it well or express my gratitude for it. Thank you for your love and prayers. Stay tuned for a more detailed update.
Love,
Brittney Jennings
(The Future Mrs. Rossie!!)
