On one occasion some of us went to the hospital to pray over it and ask God if there was anything specific we should pray for. We asked for permission to go into the rooms to pray for the patients and was asked to return another day when that doctor was not so busy. We said we would come back.

Two days later the opportunity came to go back. The idea popped into my head, so before I could forget about it, I asked around if others wanted to join me. Some did, others didn’t, some said yes then changed their minds. It looked like it wasn’t going to happen. I was already making plans of doing something else but I kept praying and asking God that if this was from Him, He would work something out. Eventually, and reluctantly, the two agreed to come along once they finished up what they were busy with. We ended up being the same group that went before. I was excited!

We were allowed to return and pray during visiting hours from noon until one. By the time we would get there, it would be twelve-thirty. Should we go in the evening instead? I felt compelled to go now. At the hospital, step by step by step God was working. We were told by the receptionist that the doctor was out for lunch and wouldn’t be back until visiting hours were over. We left a message and were on our way out when the door opened and the doctor’s friend (also a doctor) called a patient in but we quickly got his attention. He let us through. So we were now in the hospital and not in the waiting room. But which room to go to and how do we start going about this? I felt drawn to this one room where we walked towards it and stood in front of its open door. I looked in and saw our doctor hurrying in from one room to another, but he looked up and caught sight of us!

He brought us to the three back rooms of paediatrics and the children’s ward. Explained to the nurses what we were doing and told us that when we finished, to go find him to take us to the other rooms. We prayed for each individual there. One little boy had sores and infection on his head due to not having soap to wash with, as his father told us. I wished I was carrying soap bars with me.

When we finished the three rooms, we waited for the doctor to come back as he was in the ER. In the meantime, we prayed for the people passing by. Eventually another hospital staff came by who spoke very broken English. She was a jovial person and introductions were funny because of misunderstandings, but after explaining what we were doing, she went in to talk with the doctor and came back and took us to the rest of the rooms. She explained to the doctors and patients and we were able to go into the post natal and long term care rooms!

By this time visiting hours were long over, but God was so good in everything that’s happened so far! Before heading out, our last person we talked to was the janitor. We explained who we were and what we were doing and asked if there was anything we could pray for him about. He told us he wasn’t a Christian and asked “How can I know God?” We explained as best as we could and then got his contact information so our host could contact him and give him more information about the Gospel message and about a church he could attend. How exciting that was to be a part of furthering God’s kingdom by sowing seeds! John 4:37 “For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.'”God is so great and yet He chooses to use us to make His name known.
