God Hears
This month has been a testimony that God hears. He hears our prayers, our cries, our praises. He not only hears, but He delights in answering our requests as well. God rocked my prayer life this month. I have been blown away by all that He has done, from the tiniest and simplest prayers, to the big team decision “where are you going” prayers. Let me just brag on God and tell you of the answered prayers and miracles we experienced this month.
~For starters, partnering with Kingdomcity Botswana was an answer to a month five prayer, when we heard about the church and got their contact information.
~We had our own house to stay in for the month which was an answer to our housing prayer and that whole ordeal is an epic story to share.
~We saw healings happen. A man’s back was restored which had been hurting since 2008!
~Visions, words and pictures that we as a team received in Cambodia (month eight) were happening!
~Prayer, healing and worship were all part of life here.
~Baby Joy was born on Saturday June 13, 2015! (I specifically prayed that she would be born on Saturday, thinking I would then be able to see her.)
~God said to pack our bags on Saturday, and that was the day we received news that Namibia was a real possibility.
~He sent a drummer one Sunday when the designated one didn’t show up.
~A lady we invited to church came and even remembered my name!
~An empty combie drove up with just enough seats for everyone to go home.
~We had a place to keep our huge backpacks free of charge.
~Village ministry happened.
~He gave me the biggest shooting star!
~There was a blender at the house so Melody could make her Butternut Squash Soup.
~There was an oven so we could bake chocolate chip cookies.
~God has been moving and breaking spiritual traditional ties. We visited a grieving widow to comfort and pray over her. As we left we shook her hand and said good-bye. Only after did we find out that you are not supposed to shake a widow’s hand because the people believe it means she will soon join her deceased one. This action of hers showed that she believed God’s power to be higher than the superstitious traditions.
~My friend Rhoda and I were able to see baby Joy. There are superstitious beliefs around who gets to see the newborn baby. A mother and her baby are confined to bed rest for six months and only certain family members get to see the baby. As friends, there was no possible way that we would see the baby and so I was content with just seeing the mom, my friend Rejoice, and saying good-bye to her. But God never ceases to surprise me and before we left, the grandmother had called and gotten permission from the rest of the women in the family and the grandmother held the baby out for us to see!
~I asked God that if He sends someone my way on that one particular day that I’d be aware and have my eyes opened to see their need. Our friend Bothle drove by, hoping we were home, and I was able to hang out with her!
~God helped me remember some Kiswahili to speak with a patient in the hospital who couldn’t communicate with anyone else because she only knew that foreign language.
Time and time again, He is faithful.
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills – from whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.” Psalm 121
