The World Race is a crazy thing…

It’s just a small snippet of time in our lifelong journey with the Lord— the swaying of just one leaf in the passing breeze that is our entire lives— yet, it’s 11 months of more stretching, more molding and more refining than all the years before it combined.

I entered the Race thinking I had a pretty good grasp on who I was, believing that I had insight into how the Lord wanted to use me, and feeling as though my relationship with God was in a good place… And I was wrong. And I mean WAY off.

Month one, the Lord began a great work in me, and now, 3/4 through the Race He has

stripped me of everything I thought I knew about myself,

called me to surrender everything I was sure I needed,

and lead me into deeper waters with Him time and time again.

He has sweetly drawn me into greater trust, true unashamed vulnerability, sweeter intimacy, and GLORIOUS freedom. He has called me to say “yes” every time He calls me out of the comfort of my boat and into the waters. He has pushed me to take steps of faith for Him everyday. He has inspired me to live a life where I choose

faith over comfort

faith over control

faith over having a guarantee of the outcome

He has called me to and brought me on this journey to FINALLY live the life Jesus came to this earth and died on a cross for— so I may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10).

This is the life God is calling all of us to.

A life filled with adventure, intimacy, love, hope, trust, joy, and FREEDOM— a life that can’t happen in the safety and security of what we can control. A life that is not possible if we stay in the comfort of our boats. The Lord desires us to have a life better than what we could ever dream up or imagine; to write a story for each of us that even the most creative and brilliant minds couldn’t think up!

He’s calling us all out of our boats… out on the waters… to take a step of faith.

Scary? A little.

Uncertain? Yes.

Uncomfortable? Absolutely.

But, in the waters, in the unknown, is where we find true freedom, it’s where we find everlasting joy, it’s where we find abundant peace, it’s where we find life-altering change, it’s where we find unconditional love— it’s where we find Jesus!

So, what’s keeping you in your boat? What’s keeping you from experiencing the newness and fullness of a life with Jesus?

When Peter said “Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water.”
Jesus said “Come” (Matthew 14:28-29). He doesn’t say “wait” or “figure out a set plan and then come”, He says “Come” now, right now! Step out of the boat and walk towards me.

What is the Lord calling you to when He responds “Come.”? What is He longing for you to answer “yes” to?

Is He calling you to the fullness of life with Him?

Say “yes” to His free gift of salvation!

Is He calling you to step out of your weak prayer life?

Say “yes” and pray boldly!

Is He calling you to not rest on the safety of your finances?

Say “yes” and give faithfully!

Is He calling you away from the comforts of home?

Say “yes” and GO serve!

The Lord is calling each of us to something— something unknown, something uncomfortable, something without a guarantee. And He so badly desires us to say “yes”— to choose Him over safety and comfort and to take BIG steps of faith for Him everyday.

It’s scary. It’s intimidating. It’s uncertain. And most likely, we won’t be prepared for what comes our way. But isn’t it wonderful that the Lord’s “power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

He will use our inadequacies.

He will capitalize on our ill preparedness.

And He will transform our useless groans into powerful words for His Kingdom.

All you have to say is “yes”. I promise, your life will never be the same!

I know mine won’t. 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to hear about what God’s been doing in my life! I hope that the things He is teaching me are also an inspiration for you and your walk with the Lord. If you felt encouraged by my blog and would like to come alongside me financially so I can continue on the Race, it would be a huge blessing. I have fallen a bit short on fundraising and need to raise $3000 to be fully funded. AIM has so graciously given me an extension, but time is running out! Thank you all so much— I’m excited to finish the last two months of this incredible journey with you!
