Testimony!
So the other day some teammates and I went to do something we call treasure hunting. Basically we pray as a group and ask God for some guidance as far as where to go, a name color etc and then go walk the streets and hope to find some of the treasure (people)that God gave us clues for. My team and I felt like God was saying to stay around the neighborhood and to talk to some people.
We first went to 711 where I got some gummy worms to hand out to the person I felt God highlighted to me. As we were walking outta 711 a man approached us and asked where we were from and what job we thought he had.We told him we were from America and one of my teammates gest that he was a teacher. He was. His name was Magid and he was from Iran and was an English teacher. We continued to talk for a bit and some how got on the subject of God. One of his big questions about God was “who created God if there’s only one God?”. I was able to give him some suggestions, but told him it’s hard to know for sure and that all we believe as Christians is that there is one God. He then told us that he needed to go exchange money but that he wanted to continue talking to us. He wanted to practice more English and he appreciated that we were educated people.
On this walk we learned about his family. He didn’t get along with his wife because she wasn’t able to speak English or have a son, and his daughter had not wanted anything to do with him because she felt that he didn’t give her the things she wanted and he saw her as ungrateful. He kept saying that he could just sense that we were good people and that our faces were shining. We told him it’s because we have Jesus in us. He seemed pretty receptive to that answer. After we went to the bank with him he wanted to take us out to ice cream to continue to talk. We had cool conversations there with him and one of my friends felt like the Lord had given some scripture to her for him. She wrote it down on a paper to give to him later. We had asked him if he wanted to pray to Jesus to help him with his problems and told him he could pray in his language and that God hears his prayers. He then told us that that morning he had prayed to God and asked him to bring people to him so that he could speak English. God answered his prayer and brought us to him! ( which is rare we have found in Bangkok that most people don’t speak good English) He was very greatful to God.
We went and sat at a park with him to pray and talked more about God. I ended up telling him about how I would ask God for frogs because I really liked frogs and that God gave me a frog last month on my window. He thought that was kool. We ended up praying with him for situation with his family and for a grandson. He then prayed that we would get good husbands.
Then, we started to get attached by bugs and he could tell we didn’t like bugs and we almost left….but my friend felt like we should ask him if he wanted to accept Jesus as his Savior and Lord over his life. Praise God we stayed! We explained the Gospel again to him and he said he wanted a relationship with God. He told us that he had actually snuck a Bible in to his country a few years ago and liked reading it but felt he couldn’t change his religion because he was Muslim. He said that if his government found out, that he would be killed. We explained to him that he could have a relationship with Jesus without changing his religion officially with the government. He said that he wanted that. My friend led him in a prayer for the repentance of his sin and to confess that he believes in Jesus (his death and resurrection Romans 10:9) and asked Holy Spirit to come and live in him. He said that he felt good afterwards:) My friend then gave him the scripture that she had gotten earlier for him. As we were walking back with him we saw two frogs hop away! The Kool thing is that he knew God had put those frogs there.. we were laughing because we had just talked about that.. he said we shouldn’t laugh at that because it was awesome that God heard my prayer. He got to see God answer a prayer as we walked away and he is now a brother in Christ!
If you could be praying for a Christian community for him in Iran that would be awesome! Also if you could be praying for his wife to find the Lord that would be great.
Love yall!
