Some may laugh out loud. Some may gag. Some may shake their heads. But that’s okay because I am really excited to share this funny, or what I think is funny, post!

So way back when the Race just started my teammate, Marissa, and I made a bet. The bet was- whoever shaved their legs first would have to buy the entire team ice cream. As many of you already know, I do not like to spend a lot of money. And this was the same for Marissa.

For the next few months we embraced not having to spend extra time shaving our legs. It was glorious!

It wasn’t until we started to realize the stares from the locals in Bulgaria that we reconsidered our bet. We were not being culturally respectful. At first I was okay with pushing through but when I noticed how distracted our new Bulgarian friends were from my manly legs, I knew we needed to shave.

What I’m about to write next we most likely not surprise some. Marissa and I didn’t take care of our hairy legs the normal way(:

No, we did not just shave our legs.

No, we did not get our legs waxed.

Yes, we did spend over fifteen hours plucking each others legs.

I absolutely loved it! Not because my legs were looking less manly, but because I was able to spend over fifteen hours with Marissa and my other teammates who offered to help. Our conversations were wonderful. They were funny, uplifting, deep, and meaningful. And we also listened to five podcast sermons. They were also funny, uplifting, deep and meaningful (I’m really starting to like podcasts).

To conclude this post,

I will include a few pictures of our hair plucking sessions, but I want to explain the reasons behind this blog. I wanted to write this blog because I think it’s funny, but the main reason why I wanted to share this story with you all is because I want to encourage y’all to make the decision to press in. To press into the people you are living with and what the Lord is doing. It is so easy to get distracted by the busyness of life to not reflect with someone what God is doing or to not learn more about God. Choose to press in. Choose to press into your community and your King.

…for Thanksgiving we didn’t pluck a turkey, we plucked each others leg hair(:
