In Myanmar I was able to experience washing feet of the women in our school campus and neighborhood. The perspective from kneeling on the ground was beautiful. I saw girls’ eye widen in unbelief that I was taking time to use my clean hands to wash their dirt feet. It was an honor to shower them in love, like Jesus did to his disciples.

Tonight, the final session of debrief, was supposed to be a worship gathering. In the midst of praise God I got a tap on my shoulder from my team mate, Derek, and he asked me to come with him. As I turned around I saw the line of women of our squad sitting in chairs as the men washed their feet. Tears immediately formed in my eyes. What a beautiful sight it was.

As Derek washed my feet he shared with me that during their men’s ministry time they decided to show us God’s love by washing our feet and spent 24 hours praying for us. Then he shared the listening prayer he heard from God for me and prayed over me.

Overwhelmed.

I was overwhelmed.

I was overwhelmed at the love I felt.

This was how the Myanmar girls felt, this was how the disciples felt. They were overwhelmed by God’s love for them.

I am overwhelmed by God’s love for me.

Thank you X Men for showing us God’s love by serving us so well.
