Hello everyone,
It is so good to write to you all! I want to say a few things before I jump into my very first WorldRace blog.
-
Thank you so much for wanting to support and encourage me as I prepare for and eventually embark on the the WorldRace.
-
For the next four months I will be in Ecuador studying abroad for my Social Work internship. I will try my very best to keep you all posted on how I am doing and how God is working in and through my life.
-
Please forgive my typos and improper grammar. To my English teachers- I apologize for not remembering everything you taught me(:
So here we go!
In preparation for Ecuador, there is a lot of unknown. I am unsure of the following: where and what my internship will entail, how often I will be able to communicate with my family and friends back home, whether I will be able to effectively continue my fundraising for the WorldRace, and if I packed everything needed. There are two ways I can respond to this- be terrified or be excited. I’m choosing to be excited(:
I believe there is beauty in the unknown. It pushes one to completely trust and rely on God. It encourages one to have little to no expectations which leads to incredible surprises, and it allows one to grow through the challenges.
Proverbs 19:21 is the Bible verse I have found myself reflecting on, in regards to the exciting unknown. [“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails”.] For me, this verse is richer than a Portillos’ chocolate cake shake because it brings comfort to the my wandering heart. I do not have to attempt, and further it is actually unnecessary for me, to plan every little detail for my future, since God is before me and has a plan for me.
Thank you, my Heavenly Father, for the great opportunities you have in store for me in Ecuador. Abba, please grant peace to those who are dear to my heart as I depart for the semester.
Cheers to the exciting unknown!
