Have you ever been walking down a neighborhood and waved to everyone you saw? Not only that but have you ever actually gone and talked to them? I’m the type of person that would normally wave to everyone back home but never actually go up and talk to them. This is what we’re doing here everyday for hours at our ministry with Impact Africa. Not only is it so fun to meet new people, but it’s been an eye opening experience that has showed me the way Jesus walked.

This is honestly the best feeling I’ve ever felt, knowing that I’m walking how Jesus did everyday life. Knowing that I can go up to someone and show them love, share truth, and tell them that there is a way out of their brokenness.

The other day when my group and I went out to what we call squatter camps (which is land owned by the government and the government allows people to live on their property) there was this man. We waved and then proceeded to go and talk to him. After talking to him and hearing his story we asked if we could pray for him. During Kevin’s prayer over him, I had this urge to open my eyes so I did. This man we were praying over was quietly sobbing. After the prayer Kevin asked him why he was crying and the man said “ I have never had a white person talk to me the way you guys are much less pray over me.” This broke my heart in two. This man was hurting and because we chose to listen to the Holy Spirit and not just wave but go and form a relationship with this man, he got to see exactly who Jesus is. He got to see that our God is a loving God who doesn’t care about color, who doesn’t care where you live or about the sins of your past. He made you perfectly in his image.

(15)If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the son of God, God lives in them and they in God. (16)And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 1 John 4:15-16

I love these verses. It shows that God is love. He loves everyone unconditionally. God’s love is so beautiful. As christians, we have Jesus in us, we have the Holy Spirit in us, therefore we have love in us. Why are we not sharing that love with everyone we pass just like Jesus did? God gave us love so we can share it with others, not keep it in.

I want to encourage anyone reading this to start walking more like Jesus. If we can truly start showing the love of Christ with everyone we pass, we will see change.

Thank you God for being a God of love. Thank you for being the greatest example of love. I pray that as the church body we will start sharing your love with everyone we pass. Thank you Jesus.

If you have any questions or just want to talk don’t be afraid to reach out! Love you all so much:))

XOXO- Britt
