My name is Brittany Brackbill. I am 31 years old. My brother, sister, and I were all born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. My family is loving, caring, and wonderfully weird and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I moved out of Vegas at the age of 19 and moved to Michigan for college. After living in Michigan for seven years I received a job teaching elementary school in Oklahoma, where I lived and taught for three years. From there I moved to Kentucky, where I currently live.
Each place has played a critical role in bringing me to where I am today. It is amazing to look back on my life and see how God’s hand has been at work throughout it. I can see Him in the times life was going great, and the times I thought everything was falling apart. God has always been faithful. He has placed jobs, heartache, celebrations, struggles, victories, family, and friends in my life when I needed them most. It has been a wild ride and I am beyond excited about what is to come.
I love the unique natural beauty that each area of the country offers. I enjoy getting outside and hiking, camping, kayaking, hammocking, or just chilling on the beach and taking in the beauty that God so graciously gives for us to enjoy! There is something about being outside that relaxes and resets me. Music also has a way speaking to me. I love how a song can just speak to my heart in a way that few other things can. From Nora Jones, to Lecrae, to Mumford and Sons, there is music for every mood. There is also coffee for every mood, because well…it’s coffee. Whenever I travel somewhere new I LOVE to find local coffee shops, sit, read, sip, repeat.
One of my passions is working with youth. As I look back on my life I can see that it was in areas of transition that big changes happened in the way I lived. I moved to college and got out of church and into things of the world. I moved to Oklahoma for work, got back into church, experienced the fullness of Jesus’ love and grace, and my life has never been the same. I say this, to say that I see a need to meet youth in their times of transition and just be there to offer support, advice, counsel, a shoulder to cry on, and to point them toward our loving gracious God. I had the pleasure of being the youth director at the church I attended in Oklahoma and loved each moment of it. It was such a blessing and it is my prayer that I taught those kids as much as they taught me and grew in me the desire to continue to work with young people. Another area of ministry that the Lord has been growing in my heart is that of ministering to women who have been sexually assaulted/abused. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to work with and minister to both of these groups of people while on the World Race.
I am so excited that the Lord has brought me to this opportunity. Five years ago I never would have imagined that I would be preparing to go on a mission trip to 11 different countries in 11 different months. I am humbled by the thought that God would choose to use me to share His love with the world. Over the course of the next year and a half I hope to grow in my understanding of who He it and to more fully rely on Him. I desire to fall more in love God, who has relentlessly pursued me throughout the years and already loves me more than I could ever deserve. Looking forward to this trip brings a variety of emotions; excitement, nervousness, uncertainty, and joy. I would so appreciate your prayers that I would be trusting of God and courageous as I take each step of this journey.
