Its been now over two weeks since I’ve left home and a really interesting question came up, someone asked me if I was home sick. Yet the only thing that came to mind is that I was home. Yeah its different then Maryland, I can’t hop in my car and drive to pick up my best friends and force them to get McDonalds with me. But, here I have found a new make shift family and best friends who I now also force them to walk instead of drive to the McDonalds in the mall right next to our hostile. Being in Thailand has showed me what its like to have what it seems like 100 new siblings and the love and hate of living with them and being in constant contact with them. I realized how much I do need alone time, while on the other hand being able to take showers past midnight with friends blasting music really makes you love and hate the constant contact of being with this new family. In many ways being here has reminded me of home. Like the constant fights with my team, but the love for each other that never goes away even if we may act like we hate each other. The bond I have already made with my team is wild and I would have never thought I would love these girls so fast.
Heres a little intro to my team:
Merrill: This girl is a little fire cracker, which is a weird way to put it. She lights up the room with love and joy, but always gives us the constant reminder to laugh and to never take the little things for granted. Merrill is my go to girl to say if I want ice cream she is down. If I want to go to whatever adventure for that day she is always ready. Chandler to my Joey World Race style??
Amy: She has an ability to listen to anything you are saying and not just half into the conversation she will give you your full attention. Amy genuinely cares so much for people and her love for the Lord and others makes me honestly want to be a better person
Hannah: Hannah is one of two of the moms I would say on our team, when I have to vent or just need to get something off my chest Hannah listens and pretty much always knows exactly what you need to say to cheer me up. Her love is reflected by taking care of our team and almost seems like she puts us first
Sky: Sky is a big ball of Joy and energy. Today we cleaned a closet where you had to go crawl in to remove all the junk and through it all she somehow smiled through it all. Even when dead cockroaches appeared out of no where she would laugh it off and I hope on day I will also have that Joy
Lilly: This is the second mom of the group. She says her love language is to serve and thats how she shows us she loves us. This includes always carrying the first aid kit and wrapping up whatever injury our team gets that day, or writing down everything and keeping everything in order so no when ever has to wonder what is going on because we all just know Lilly knows
Ashlynn: This girl rocks not only because she gives us our money for food every week (she is our treasurer), but because she can get handed any task and be happy to do it. Each day you never have to worry about Ashlynn having an attitude because it never happens everyday she comes into ministry with a smile and a radiant attitude making the rest of the team excited to start the day
I am so thankful for the World Race, not only did it bring me these ladies, but made me see the light in things that I would have overlooked in 2 seconds before this.
