It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged, so I thought it would be good to give you all some updates on what’s been going on lately!
- Completed my 1st fundraising goal!!
- T-shirt Fundraiser- raised $291 on my first round of shirts!
- With that money I started buying my “big” items: backpack, sleeping bag, & tent- so exciting!
- Garage Sale- raised $710 last weekend
God is so awesome and I am blown away by the support I have been getting, so thank you to all who have donated so far!
So over this past weekend I went to a Citizens & Saints and Kings Kaleidoscope concert with some friends. (If you haven’t heard of these bands, please go check them out- they are amazing!) It was one of those nights I definitely needed, but didn’t realize it until I was there. Towards the end of the night, Kings Kaleidoscope played the song “How Deep”, and I was so completely broken during this song. I was worshipping, and all of a sudden I felt so unworthy and undeserving of His love. This song has such a strong meaning and depicts just how deep God’s love really is for me and I felt so broken in that moment. I felt God’s presence there, as if it was just Him and me in the room, and all I could do is stand there and cry because I felt so unworthy of His love. I could feel my heart being broken and softened. I have felt so void of God lately, but in that moment God reassured me that I was not alone. I kept asking myself “Why does God love me?” I’m a sinner, I’m not always in His word, and not everything I do glorifies Him. Why would He want to love me? These words are sung throughout the song grabbed ahold of my heart.
How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
I love that God so sweetly reminded me that I am His child and He made me, and even though I stumble He is always there with me. He is there to remind me of who He is, encourage me, teach me, and to love me unconditionally. I didn’t realize how desperately I needed to be reminded that God loves me no matter what, and that He will be there for me always!
I also wanted to share a really cool God moment that happened this weekend. On Saturday, I had a garage sale, with some incredible friends who woke up early to help me, with all the proceeds going towards the World Race. It was a great day, full of people asking about the race and getting to share what God is doing in my life. There was this one woman, Serena, who just blew me away. At first, she was talking to my grandparents about my the race, than she came over to talk to me about it. She told me her son was a missionary in the Philippines, and then she handed me some money to help support me. Then she prayed for me and found out I had some extra World Race shirts I was selling, and she bought one of those too! I was so touched by this woman and her generosity and kindness. It was so cool to see how God can use a garage sale for His glory!
Here’s the song below if you want to listen to it 🙂
