So I have ventured forth from my bed…I simply had a cold but was basically bed-ridden. I knew that my group would be doing manual labor and since I woke up with a fever, I decided to stay back and rest.
Turned out to be a good choice, I woke up this morning feeling better and worse, but decided again to stay back from ministry since we were going to be praying for the sick or elderly, and I didn’t want to make them the sick AND elderly…
My ministry for the past couple days has been resting my body and getting healthy for manual labor tomorrow with the rest of my team. It hasn’t been fun to be on the outside looking in on all the fun and experiences my team has had without me, but God has really used this time to teach me what it means to truly rest in him. I literally slept all day yesterday, waking only for meals. Today I got a chance to do laundry (first time since first week of Haiti)…and I had some really good talks with people I wouldn’t normally have spoken to, I got a chance to take care of myself in a way I wasn’t making time for, and I got to see other teams go out and come back from their ministry and just experience their joy!
I don’t have to be the face of the ministry…that may not be my actual body part of the body of Christ, but someone has to be the backbone, or the neck, or the upper arm, the trunk…the ankle – I am a supporting ligament, but that doesn’t mean I have to take a back seat. God will use me as HE sees fit.
P.S. As one of a group of people struggling with finances, I ask that you join us in prayer and fasting that God will meet our needs. We will be spending the next 24 hours praying in praise and thanksgiving for the way that God has met out needs. If you can help either financially or in praying in faith, I thank you…I still need about $8000, but there are others who still need more. I thank you in advance for your prayers and your faith. God bless!
